Why We're Polarized

How has the politics of race impacted polarization in the US? Consider the causes of polarization and the context of demographic changes.

If partisans are less concerned with policy than identity, how did partisanship strengthen so much with ideological sorting? What accounts for the intensity of identity with a political party?
